Inspired Kindergartens – Ngā Kōhungahunga Manawanui - offers quality early childhood education to over 1300 children through its network of twenty-five kindergartens and home-based education services.

We have kindergartens between Whangamata in the north and Murupara in the south-east while our home-based services operate between Whitianga and Pongakawa.

Our oldest kindergartens were established in Tauranga in the 1960’s and all are still serving parents and whānau today.

We are a not-for-profit community-based charity governed by an elected Board. We are developing the bi-cultural relationship established by Aotearoa/New Zealand's founding document Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Our staff of more than two hundred includes a 100% qualified and registered early childhood teacher workforce. Along with our commitment Education for Sustainability it is one of the things that makes us unique.

We believe early learning is a partnership with parents and whānau. Together we want to engage young children in authentic learning experiences with the space, freedom and care that builds self confidence, independence, and individuality.

We are a proud member of Kindergartens Aotearoa because we believe in the fight for better outcomes for our tāmariki by providing a framework for quality teaching.

A Berm & Bumble Bees

If there is one story that truly reflects Inspired Kindergartens’ dedication to Education for Sustainability, it is the creation of Katikati Kindergarten’s beautiful berm garden. What began as a simple idea from kaiako to revitalise an underused patch of land at the front of the centre soon blossomed into a rich learning experience for the tamariki. To the delight of many, the wider community quickly became involved. “We were surprised to see new plants appearing,” shared kaiako Biddy Hudson (pictured), as she proudly displayed the vibrant mix of flowers now in bloom. At the centre of it all is a standout feature is the bumble beehive, a favourite among the children.
